ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST – CANBY

Title: Environmental Specialist

Location: Canby, OR

Wilson Construction Company has an immediate opening in the Environmental Department at our headquarter office near Portland, Oregon for a self-motivated Environmental Specialist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.

Our Environmental Department specializes in environmental compliance management as it relates to the utility construction industry.  Our team brings expertise to construction projects in the areas of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan development and implementation, biological and cultural mitigation measure compliance, onsite inspection and monitoring, permitting, mitigation planning, restoration and environmental training. 

This position may include a significant portion of the time spent in the field at job sites. 

Essential Job Duties Will Include The Following:

  • Estimating project environmental costs;
  • Managing the environmental components of a construction project;
  • Managing the environmental budget of a construction project;
  • Writing and obtaining permits;
  • Conducting field monitoring and inspection for environmental compliance (hydrocarbon spills, erosion and sediment control, sensitive resource mitigation);
  • Developing plans to meet mitigation requirements on a given project;
  • Tracking current bids and projects;
  • Availability to travel to projects as needed, typically 1–10 nights per month;
  • Availability to spend extended periods of time at project locations distant from the Canby, OR office;
  • Interaction and effective communication with all levels of Project Management staff, customers and vendors.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • 2–5 years of work experience in a related/relevant field (storm water, geology, hydrology, etc.);
  • Experience conducting field work and documenting protocol and processes;
  • Capable of performing strenuous fieldwork and walking long distances;
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with functionality of construction job-sites and reading plans;
  • General knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and permitting at the federal, state and local levels;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various levels of staff and personality types;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint);
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills including coordinating, tracking, and meeting deadlines;

UTILITY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SCHEDULER - CANBY

Title: Utility Construction Project Scheduler

This is an office position requiring a professional with the majority of work hours to be spent in an office setting. Candidate will be required to take ownership of the current project schedules and the development and utilization of future schedules. Applicant must possess the ability to work independently or with a team of current schedulers to ensure schedule development and maintenance of the highest quality.  This position will create, manage, and utilize project schedule for proposals, forecasting, and for the accurate submission of schedule updates and look-aheads to estimators, the project team, and project owner.

This position will support the corporate headquarters as well as team with our other division offices, and will work closely with our subcontractors and other project stakeholders under the direction of the Manager of Technical Services.

Requirements include: 

  • Construction or Technology based Bachelor's Degree or 4 years' experience as a Construction Based Project Manager;
  • Understanding of basic scheduling concepts and methods
  • Analytically minded with an aptitude for learning software;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organization skills to include:
    • Coordinating, tracking, and meeting deadlines;

INVENTORY CONTROL COORDINATOR – CANBY

Title: Inventory Control Coordinator

Location: Canby, OR

 

Wilson Construction Co. is seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator to support our warehouse at our headquarter location in Canby, OR.  This position will be responsible for utilizing our existing software to maintain our computerized inventory system.


Responsibilities:

  • Enter data for quantities of parts issued and transferred between locations;
  • Maintain product identification and location program;
  • Prepare and organize cycle counts of inventory;
  • Reconcile and analyze inventory discrepancies;
  • Monitor and enter inventory adjustments;
  • Coordinate and integrate efforts with warehouse to enhance inventory accuracy;
  • Work with warehouse personnel to corroborate inventory procedures are being followed;
  • Process credits/RMA;
  • Receive manufacturing/work orders through inventory system;
  • Process paperwork for sales orders either through inventory system or manual packing slips;
  • Receive purchase orders though inventory system;
  • Maintain necessary files; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • High School diploma;
  • 1-3 years prior experience with computerized inventory control;
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with Co-workers and visitors;
  • Typing/10 Key ability with accuracy;
  • Familiarity with current Windows operating systems (as applicable) and proficiency in required software, including currently supported versions of Windows applications such as Word, Excel, and Access;
  • Warehouse/Administrative experience preferred;
  • Understanding of inventory procedures in a warehouse environment preferred;

About This Job:

You will report directly to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel and will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters.  You will help develop, write and implement company's policies, procedures and human resource related programs.  You will work closely with every level in the company, including senior management and project managers.   

We're looking for an experienced attorney who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of handling diverse, wide ranging legal issues.  You must be practical, have good business sense and a strong work ethic.  You must have strong interpersonal skills, be an excellent communicator, a good listener, and can relate to people from all walks of life. You must have the ability to operate independently and work proactively with various teams across the organization.    

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and counsel senior management and project managers regarding a wide variety of issues relating to major construction projects, change orders, contract interpretation and compliance;
  • Review, negotiate and approve contracts with customers and subcontractors;
  • Work with our insurer on worker's compensation and third party claims, as well the Safety Department;
  • Conduct and direct  investigations on a wide variety of issues; and
  • Provide training to staff on policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:

  • Member of the Oregon State bar;
  • 6+ years of legal experience with a primary emphasis on contracts and construction;
  • Must have a basic understanding of employment law, OSHA and litigation management;
  • Demonstrated sound business and legal judgment;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: flexible, self-starting and hard-working;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations;

PHYSICAL SCIENTIST / BIOLOGIST - CANBY

Title: Physical Scientist / Biologist

Wilson Construction Company has an immediate opening in the Environmental Department at our headquarter office near Portland, Oregon for a self-motivated Physical Scientist/Biologist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.

The Environmental Department is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing the implementation of environmental actions and compliance requirements associated with the construction of transmission systems and associated facilities. This position serves as a liaison and overall coordination point with our Operations Department on environmental concerns. It is responsible for overseeing and ensuring implementation of project environmental requirements during construction and establishing budgets and tracking costs. It develops, coordinates, and implements environmental training, water protection, hazardous materials management, biological protection, erosion control and other environmental controls on construction projects. It is responsible for reviewing associated environmental permits, plans, and specifications for electrical utility projects. It analyzes environmental laws, regulations, and policy initiatives for their implications on construction operations.

The Department provides technical expertise and support in the areas of bid document analysis, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan development and implementation, biological and cultural mitigation measure compliance, onsite inspection and monitoring, permitting, mitigation planning, and restoration. This position also assists field organizations in the proper handling and reporting of hazardous materials, providing environmental assistance in responding to spills, advising construction managers on environmental compliance issues, and providing client interface with field personnel.

This position provides scientific and technical expertise for a variety of functions. These duties include:
• Analyze bid documents and estimate the environmental costs associated with the scope of work;
• Support Operations in developing proposal packages and writing environmental compliance plans during the bidding phase and at project start;
• Interpret and analyze data and prepare reports;
• Support the coordination of tracking current bids and projects;
• Monitor and inspect for environmental compliance (hydrocarbon spills, erosion and sediment control, sensitive resource mitigation);
• Develop plans to meet mitigation requirements on a given project;
• Familiar with federal, state and local regulations in Oregon, Washington and California;
• Develop strategies for mitigating environmental impacts to facilitate construction operations;
• Support environmental programs and projects within the framework of applicable laws (CWA, Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act, RCRA, TSCA, CAA, etc.)

FIELD MECHANIC – RANCHO CORDOVA

Title: Field Mechanic

Location: Rancho Cordova, CA

 

Electrical utility construction company seeking experienced Field Mechanic for repair of various utility equipment and trucks.  This position will be responsible for a large variety of repairs to support various job sites. 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years heavy mechanic experience in related field;
  • Ability to diagnose and repair:     
    • Hydraulic systems;
    • Diesel and gas systems;
    • Electrical systems;
    • Brake systems; and
    • All related components to aerial equipment and boom trucks;
  • Must have basic fabrication skills;
  • MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL;
  • Ability to observe and maintain excellent safety standards;

  • CDL a plus.

FIELD SAFETY COORDINATOR - RANCHO CORDOVA

Title: Field Safety Coordinator
Location: Rancho Cordova, CA

 

Wilson Construction Co. has immediate openings for a Field Safety Coordinator based in Rancho Cordova, CA with a positive, can-do attitude.  The Field Safety Coordinator for Wilson is responsible for ensuring onsite compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local safety regulations.  The Field Safety Coordinator reports to the Corporate Safety Director and coordinates their work activities with the Construction Superintendent and Project Manager, and is responsible for performing the following essential duties and responsibilities; other duties may be assigned as needed:

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct safety orientations for new employees and former employees returning to the Company after an extended absence;
  • Coordinate new hire drug testing;
  • Administer the fall protection program and fit testing where applicable;
  • Administer employee-training;
  • Assist with records of employee safety training programs (rosters);
  • Conduct at least one (1) complete safety inspection (audit) for each job site visited and file written reports.  Monitor as many job sites as possible on a weekly basis to ensure that safe practices are followed and hazardous conditions are noted and eliminated;
  • Review Wilson truck/equipment safety inspection reports;
  • Investigate all incidents and near miss reports and file reports as required;
  • Establish and review procedures for the treatment of injuries;
  • Maintain a current SDS file available at any time.  Ensure that appropriate safety training is provided whenever new materials, equipment or processes are introduced to the workplace;
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the injury and illness prevention program and all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety;
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the hazards of every operation and how these hazards can be controlled;
  • Review each task including a thorough survey of site conditions, and analysis the potential hazards to be encountered, and a determination of the kind and extent of safeguards necessary to accomplish the work in a safe manner and/or train employees as appropriate;
  • Make available all necessary personal protective equipment, job safety materials, first aid supplies, and emergency information; 
  • Implement immediate corrective action whenever noncompliance with the safety program or Federal, State or local laws or regulations is found;
  • Meet with Superintendents /General Foremen and foremen on a periodic basis to review accidents, near-misses, disciplinary actions taken and safety suggestions offered from the field;
  • Evaluate the safety performance of field employees and provide guidance and training where needed to improve performance and safety;
  • Meet with Wilson management on periodic basis to discuss accidents and accident trends, employee safety performance, safety suggestions from the field, ways and means of improving the effectiveness of the safety program, and the agenda for scheduled training programs;

PROTECTED VETERAN STATUS:
