Title:  Assistant Project Manager
Location:  Rancho Cordova, CA

Wilson Construction Company is seeking a self-motivated Assistant Project Manager to support regional operations. This position will primarily be based out of the company’s Rancho Cordova office but will be required to travel to various project sites throughout the area.

​Title: Environmental Specialist

Wilson Construction Company has an immediate opening in the Environmental Department at our branch office in Rancho Cordova, California for an experienced, highly motivated Environmental Specialist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.

Our Environmental Department specializes in environmental compliance management as it relates to the electrical utility construction industry. Our team brings expertise to construction projects in the areas of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan development and implementation, biological and cultural mitigation measure compliance, onsite inspection and monitoring, permitting, mitigation planning, restoration and environmental training.

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for estimating environmental costs of construction projects, as well as coordinating and planning with project teams to facilitate construction progress while ensuring implementation of environmental requirements. Our ideal candidate is an experienced manager of environmental compliance on electrical utility construction projects, has demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring environmental compliance mitigation measures, and has a nationally recognized stormwater certification, as well as QSD/QSP certification.

Essential job duties will include the following:
· Estimating project environmental costs;
· Tracking current bids and projects;
· Conducting field monitoring and inspection for environmental compliance (hydrocarbon spills, erosion and sediment control, sensitive resource mitigation);
· Availability to travel to projects as needed, typically 1–10 nights per month;
· Availability to spend extended periods of time at project locations distant from the Ranch Cordova, CA office;
· Developing plans to meet mitigation requirements on a given project;
· Writing and obtaining permits; and
· Interaction and effective communication with all levels of Project Management staff, customers and vendors.

Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with proven environmental compliance experience; graduate degree preferred;
· Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a related/relevant field (storm water, geology, hydrology, environmental permitting, etc.);
· Demonstrated experience working in California field environments and/or on construction projects with California environmental compliance requirements;
· Experience conducting field work and documenting protocol and processes;
· Capable of performing strenuous fieldwork and walking long distances;
· Knowledge of and familiarity with operation of construction job-sites and reading plans;
· General knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and permitting at the federal, state and local levels;
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various levels of staff and personality types;
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint);
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills including:
· Coordinating, tracking, and meeting deadlines;

This position will assist in providing project management support on utility transmission-line construction projects along with developing, planning, and coordinating the technical work for electrical/utility construction projects. 

 

This is an office position with the majority of work hours to be spent in an office setting and field site visits in the project area as required; minimal travel outside the area may be required.  This position will support the Murrieta office as well as team with the headquarter office under the direction of the Onsite Project Manager.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Project Managers and Schedulers with various administrative tasks;
  • Daily data entry of project status (QA/QC, delivery of materials);
  • Preparing 3- and 5-day look-aheads;
  • Preparing RFIs, transmittals/submittals;
  • Scheduling of materials and tracking delivery;
  • Assisting with approval of material invoices;
  • Tracking and reporting of equipment and vehicles in the right of way daily;
  • Maintaining various spreadsheets;
  • Environmental SWPPP support; and
  • Errands as needed to deliver paperwork.

 

Requirements include: 

  • 3 to 8 years of project management or work study experience related to utility construction

  • 2 years lube truck or similar experience on heavy trucks and equipment;
  • Minimum 1 year Class B CDL;
  • Mechanical skills required;
  • Must have basic tools as needed to perform vehicle lube services;
  • Ability to observe and maintain excellent safety standards;
  • Must be self-motivated with the desire to do a thorough job in a reasonable amount of time;
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and nights on a regular basis; and
  • Must be willing and able to spend several weeks on the road and away from home.

 

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated to learn about our company and equipment, take ownership in their position, and be able to think outside the box. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and carry the same for short distances and up and down stairs and steep inclines; and
  • Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.

 

Hourly wage plus OT and per diem while traveling.  Excellent benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, vision, 401(k), personal time off and holiday pay.

TRUCK DRIVER - WOODBURN

Title: Truck Driver

Location: Woodburn, OR

Wilson Construction Company has an opening for a Truck Driver with a positive, can-do attitude. Wilson Construction has been in business since 1952 as a Power Utility Contractor working in multiple states throughout the US. This position will transport a variety of utility trucks and electrical equipment to various job sites across the country.    

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 2-3 years' experience hauling construction equipment including oversize load experience;
  • Class A CDL license and clean driving record;
  • Current DOT medical card;
  • Ability to observe and maintain excellent safety standards;
  • Knowledge of size/weight restrictions and keeping a log book a must;
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends; and
  • Must be able travel overnight, out of town and across state lines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry the same for short distances and up and down stairs and steep inclines.
  • Ability to sit in awkward positions for long periods, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over various equipment.

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated to stay busy with various duties to maintain equipment in-between transports, and assist in the shop where needed.

The General Foreman/Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing day to day operations of crew(s) on Substation construction projects and will work closely with project management staff in the field and headquarters office. General Foreman/Superintendent Responsibilities also include the processing of paperwork associated with the crew, customer, and project.

General Foreman/Superintendent Requirements include:
· General Computer skills;
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and personality types;
· Ability to manage subcontractors and crew productively, efficiently, and provide coaching for safe working conditions;
· Ability to read specifications, design drawings and wiring diagrams;
· Oversite of project quality control and safety as needed to maintain quality standards and safe work place;
· Current 1st Aid/CPR Certification;
· Must have current CDL and maintain valid driver license;
· Willingness to work outside, travel, and work OT when required; and
· Must be able to pass post-offer, and random drug screening tests.
