Wilson used a V-groove puller to remove the existing static wire while pulling in the new OPGW. Crews installed roughly 460,000 feet of OPGW throughout multiple outages while overcoming land disturbance and site access challenges. Wilson’s dedicated crews and experienced aviators helped lead to a successful operation.

Wilson replaced 44 miles of static wire with Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the Dugas - Morgan 500kV transmission line, located north of Phoenix, Arizona. Wilson coordinated with APS and the Bureau of Land Management in order to reconstruct stage-one roads (SUV accessible) with a bulldozer and front end loader which allowed access to pull and fly sites.
